INJURY PREVENTION

Rehabilitation, or rehab, is the process that seeks to overcome the physical effects of injury or illness and improve function mobility and quality of life. The type of rehab that you may undergo depends on your injury and goals. Very simply, Sports injury rehabilitation takes you from an injured state to the prior level of health and fitness. The difference between people that recover and people that don’t, is the work that you’re willing to put in based on the advice from your therapist.

Injury Prevention and simple ways to avoid it.

  • Good quality sleep
  • Eat well.
  • If you’re not involved in sports light exercise such as walking can help.
  • Don’t over train.
  • While you are training make sure you train all aspects of your body.
  • If you’re in a job that requires sitting, make sure you move regularly throughout the day.

The above things are all up to you. Where do I come in? I can provide advice and assessment to the body and anticipate parts of your body that may have higher chance of injury and prescribe exercises to prevent this happening.

Also, if you’re training quite a lot or preparing for an event, regular massage is a must as well as helping the body to flush out waste from training it’s also a chance to assess and have a talk about potential niggles you may be feeling.

Holistic Massage
This is a great way to relax and reward your body for the hard work you put it through and help keep tension at bay both mentally and physically.

The best thing to wear to physiotherapy is clothing that is comfortable and allows for a full range of movement.

Shorts or loose-fitting trousers are ideal. In some cases, three-quarter length leggings can also work well.

For women, a sports bra or crop top may be more comfortable than a regular bra. Again, it’s important that you feel comfortable so you can focus on your physiotherapy session.

As a general rule of thumb, it’s best to avoid wearing jewellery as this can get in the way or even cause injury during certain exercises.
